The staff was wonderful and very knowledgeable. They tried to assist us in everything so that we would feel at home. The breakfast was exemplerary and very fresh. The views were nice and the Vaparetto station for the islands was just a block downhill. The parking was easy in the hotel lot and we felt very safe. We even had Frank Sinatra playing during breakfast. We would definately return.

The Elvezia is a small, basic, family-run hotel in a fantastic location just a few yards from the quay in Baveno where you can get the boat to the Borromean islands, Stresa and Pallanza. If you need five-star luxury and expect the earth, it's not for you, but if all you need is somewhere clean and comfy to get your head down of a night and that provides a decent breakfast, it's perfect. The staff that run it are incredibly warm, friendly and welcoming and it's fantastic value for money. Highly recommended.

Sleeping with the windows open is challenging because of the railway nearby.

Great location and great staff - this is the second time I have stayed here and it really is a good place to stay. Secure parking for the motorbikes, really convenient location (a five minute walk into Baveno) really friendly staff and a very decent breakfast.

Staff was great, location is one of the best for lake Maggiore, you can easily reach the islands.

The staff is very nice and he gives a lot of travel advice. The position is quite good, not far from the boats to the islands. The breakfast, not included, is plentiful (recommended)

I worried about the noise reported by some travellers on Booked.net but the church bells stoped ringing at 22:00 and started at 8:00 I think, so pretty OK. The trains were also OK. Breakfast was decent, no fireworks.

There is no lifts, the heating in my room was not good enough, almost none. There is no TV and phone in the room. In my opinion, the rate for this hotel should be not higher than 6. There is a photo from room showing view to the sea, it's not true. There is no room with sea view.
